Tahannaout or Tahnaout is a town and commune, capital of Al Haouz Province of the Marrakesh-Safi region of Morocco. It is located 34.5 kilometres (21.4 mi) by road south of Marrakesh, near the foot of the Atlas Mountains. It contains a Jewish cemetery.
Moulay Brahim (died 1661 CE), nicknamed 'Bird of the Mountain', was a well-known Moroccan sufi saint. He was the grandson of Abdallah ibn Ḥusayn al-Ḥassani, the founder (c. 1525 CE) of the zawiya of Tameslouht, one of the greatest zawiyas in the region of Marrakech. The zawiya of Moulay Brahim was founded in 1628 CE during the reign of the Saadi sultan Zaydan al-Naṣir in the village originally named Kik, and since called Moulay Brahim. It is located a few kilometers to the west of Tameslouht.
Imlil is a small village in the high Atlas Mountains of Morocco. It is 1,740 metres (5,710 ft) above sea level. A portrait of Imlil and the problems and prospects of Morocco's mountain populations appeared in 1984 in the book by James A. Miller called Imlil and published by Westview Press. It is close to the mountain Jebel Toubkal, the highest peak in Northern Africa. Imlil makes a good base for attempting to summit Toubkal.
