Dadès Gorges is a canyon of the Dadès River and lies between the Atlas Mountains and the Jbel Saghro of the Anti-Atlas mountain range, in Morocco.
Berbers built many kasbahs in vicinity of gorges with defence purposes. These many kasbahs together with the natural beauty of the place have contributed to make it a tourist attraction in recent years.
Todgha Gorge is a canyon in the eastern part of the High Atlas Mountains in Morocco, near the town of Tinghir. Both the Todgha and neighbouring Dades Rivers have carved out cliff-sided canyons on their final 40 kilometres (25 mi) through the mountains. The last 600 metres (1,969 ft) of the Todgha gorge are the most spectacular. Here the canyon narrows to a flat stony track, in places as little as 10 metres (33 ft) wide, with sheer and smooth rock walls up to 160 metres (525 ft) high on each side.
Erfoud is an oasis town in the Sahara Desert, in the Drâa-Tafilalet region in eastern Morocco. It is divided into several districts: Hay Salam, Hay Jdid, Hay Ziz, Hay el Bathaa, Hay Annahda, and Hay el Hamri.
Due to its proximity to Merzouga desert village in the Erg Chebbi Dunes, Erfoud has developed tourist-related infrastructures such as hotels and restaurants.
Rissani is a town in Errachidia Province in eastern Morocco, located near Erfoud. It is the closest town of significant size to the Erg Chebbi, one of the largest sand desert in Morocco. Its population in 2004 was 20,469.
The mausoleum of Moulay Ali Cherif, third great-grandfather of Moulay Cherif, founder of the Alaouite Dynasty of Morocco, is located on the southern edge of town.
Erg Chebbi is one of Morocco's two Saharan ergs – large seas of dunes formed by wind-blown sand. The other is Erg Chigaga near M'hamid.
The dunes of Erg Chebbi reach a height of up to 150 meters in places and altogether spans an area of 50 kilometers from north to south and up to 5–10 kilometers from east to west
The nearest sizable town is Erfoud, about 60 kilometers further north. One other city is Rissani, around 40 kilometers from Merzouga, and from the 8th to the 14th century there was a separate kingdom, known as Sijilmassa, which was prosperous owing to former caravan routes.
Agdz is a town in mid-southeastern Morocco, in the Atlas Mountains with a population of about 10,000. Agdz lies at the feet of Djebel Kissane and along the shores of the Draa River.
The Draa also spelled Dra or Drâa, in older sources mostly Darha or Dara), is Morocco's longest river, 1,100 kilometres (680 mi). It is formed by the confluence of the Dadès River and Imini River. It flows from the High Atlas mountains south-(east)ward to Tagounit and from Tagounit mostly westwards to the Atlantic Ocean somewhat north of Tan-Tan. Most of the year the part of the Draa after Tagounit falls dry.
These folks are caring and trustworthy. If you're taking the multi day luxury desert tour, it's an experience of a live time tenting and sleeping in the desert. After a lengthy ride there, the camp's service and food was exceptional. Highly recommend Top Desert Tours!Lopez, US
